About
I’m not sure what this will be yet. Mostly, it’ll be a collection of things that I find interesting or worth exploring, but I’m not sure if there will be a clear theme. Let’s find out. I’ve always thought ideas to be humanity’s greatest currency, and curiosity its most important trait. So this will be my place of indulgence. If it ends up serving someone other than myself, all the better.
Why ‘The Apiary’?
Bees have been these timelessly important creatures since the dawn of humanity. Beekeeping has been practised for millennia, and bees have appeared throughout all streams of art and literature from ancient times to present day, appearing in countless myths, folklore, and legends through the centuries. In European folklore, bees were entrusted with important events in their keeper’s life. At weddings and funerals, they’d be given a piece of cake or pastry and be told the name of the deceased or the wedded party. As long as they were told these stories, they’d stay happily in their hives. But failing to do so would see them departing for other pastures, where they’d once again be fed with stories. This, in all, makes The Apiary a fitting name. But mostly, and less pretentiously, I just like bees. They make beautiful products, they are the niftiest little creatures, and I fully intend to keep them one day. Until then, I’ll keep my stories here, in my very own Apiary.
